At first, the primitive appeal of fire and meat may have been enough to wet our appetites for barbecued foods, but as our culinary sophistication levels have grown, so too have our ideas about barbecue. Regional differences abound, flavorful sauce recipes evolve, and so do interpretations of the casual and contemporary barbecue experience.

What has made Spring Creek a favorite dining destination for over 25 years? First and foremost are our delicious barbeque specialties - ribs, beef, chicken, sausage, ham and turkey breast. All are hickory-smoked to perfection, and our ribs are then chargrilled for extra flavor. We have wonderful sauce, made from our own secret recipe, giant stuffed baked potatoes, and fresh home-baked bread brought hot from the oven to your table.

Dickey’s Barbecue was founded in 1941 by Travis Dickey in a one-room building. The original store had sawdust on the floors and sold beef brisket, ham and ribs. If you wanted a vegetable, you could have potato chips or barbecue beans, or both. Add a bottle of soda, milk or beer and that was the entire menu. This changed when his two sons, Roland and T.D., Jr. took over the business in 1967. They began to modernize the restaurants and add more meats and vegetables to the menu, which now boasts up to eight meats and sixteen, fresh and homemade vegetables.

Take a deep breath and inhale the aroma of some of the best BBQ the Hill Country has to offer. You've found "The Salt Lick" so named by owner Hisako Roberts and her husband, the late Thurman Roberts, because "a Salt Lick is something where all the animals congregate. There is something good, something essential about it.
